Arcangel Images is an internationally recognised stock photography agency, renowned for its specialisation in supplying distinctive imagery for book cover design. Providing imagery for Arcangel’s extensive portfolio allows me the freedom to create compelling visual content tailored for the publishing market, helping authors and publishers capture the essence of their stories and produce covers that resonate with readers.

THE REMIT

As a contributing photographer to Arcangel Images, the role is to produce high-quality, concept-driven imagery tailored for the publishing and creative industries, with a strong focus on book cover design. Photographers are expected to create visually striking, cinematic, and narrative-rich photographs that capture mood, atmosphere, and symbolism rather than literal depictions. This often involves working with models, props, and locations to construct images that evoke emotion, intrigue, and story.

This photography session, focusing on historical queens, resulted in a striking collection of images that blend regal elegance with atmospheric storytelling. Working with talented stylist Tabitha Boydell, costumes, props, and settings are of the highest quality and design, ensuring the resulting photographs evoke the power, grace, and intrigue associated with monarchs of the past. Each portrait captures not just the grandeur of royal identity, but also the subtle human emotions—strength, vulnerability, and mystery—that make these figures timelessly compelling.
